Almost everyone has this spice, but only few know how healthy it is. What’s especially appealing about it is the fact that it is actually beneficial for losing weight, and it certainly helps you to get your shape back. Do you know which spice we are talking about?
Scientists from the Institute of Medical Sciences in Iran “Shahid Sadoughi” found that people who eat a teaspoon of ground cumin every day lose their weight three times faster than people who are on a diet, but don’t consume the spice.
The study included 88 overweight women. During the research all the women reduced daily calorie intake by 500 and followed the advice on healthy eating.
However, half of the respondents had 3 grams of cumin powder mixed in a low-fat and sugar-free yogurt every day.
Three months later, the group that consumed cumin lost more weight. On average they lost 1.5 kilograms more than the women who did not consume cumin. In addition, they reduced body fat by 14%.
Women who did not eat cumin lost about five kilos, and they reduced fats by 4.9 percent.
This spice also helped the respondents to significantly lower their levels of bad cholesterol. Scientists explain this by stating that cumin contains plenty of phytosterol , which has the ability to absorb cholesterol, and also contains substances that speed up metabolism.
