– The appearance of melanoma today is five times more often compared to the period before 40 years. If you have more than 10 moles on your right arm, you have a greater chance to get skin cancer, showed the newest research.
Humans, who have at least 11 moles on one arm, are more likely to have more than 100 moles on the whole body, claim British researchers.
Although the most of the moles are benign, sometimes they can become malignant. Therefore, people who have many moles are up to 10 times more likely to get melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer.
The appearance of melanoma today is five times more often compared to the period before 40 years and more than 2000 people suffer from this disease every year.
Researchers from the Royal University of London believe that despite the sun burns that cause skin cancer, the number of moles on the body is very important.
The research was done on more than 3500 healthy women. The body was divided in 17 areas to determine which one has the most moles. It turned out that the arm is a good indicator because people who have more than 10 moles on their arms, they have more than 100 on the whole body.
Doctors advise patients with moles to check regularly if some changes occur (shape and color), because they may be a sign of cancer.
